Someone famous died today.  Quick, put your “I’m a deep thinker” cap on and act as if you’re deeply impacted by this until everyone else find something else to worry about.
Don’t get me wrong, I grew up with MJ playing my house.  The Thriller record my parents had playing all the time probably wore out before I turned 7 and I even used to dance to his records constantly (yes, friends…I danced once).  I would even venture as far as to say that I may not have been as likely to become a musician.  That being said he’s just a guy you were exposed to from pretty much the day you were born in a lot of cases.  Take a few minutes to do a sort of “life systems check”:
1) Think about the person’ family members and wish them the best. This sucks for them the most.
2) Take the time to make sure YOU’RE the type of person the people around you would miss.
3) Enjoy (in this case listen to) one piece of what this person contributed and get all existential about it if you want to.
4) Move the eff on.  Nobody will think you’re a bad person for not mourning someone you never met.
Sorry for the rant, It probably seems unnecessary but I’ve had too much time to think today thus far. People are weird about death.
