Apparently, It's All Steve Ballmer's Fault
Microsoft has become a bit of a joke. Yes, its Windows operating system still runs on more than 90 percent of PCs, and the Office application suite rules the desktop. But those are old markets. In new areas, Microsoft has stumbled. Apple created the iPod, and the iTunes store, and the iPhone. Google dominates Internet search, operates arguably the best e-mail system (Gmail) and represents a...

I'LL TUMBLR FOR YA
Do you know who this guy is?
You should. His name is David Karp and he invented Tumblr. Seriously. He is also only 23 years old, fucking smart, and a millionaire.
We interviewed him about his life, feelings, and what’s up with the whole spelling of Tumblr with no “e” thing.
…And if David sees this and feels like upping our tumblarity to like, five billion, we’d be pretty okay with that...

Custom Exposé Glows for Download →
For the people who think the blue glow effect on Snow Leopard’s Exposé function is ugly, The people over at UsingMac.com have posted instructions on changing the color/style and a few sample glows for download. I’ll be messing with this later tonight.

Facebook for iPhone developer quits.
My decision to stop iPhone development has had everything to do with Apple’s policies. I respect their right to manage their platform however they want, however I am philosophically opposed to the existence of their review process. I am very concerned that they are setting a horrible precedent for other software platforms, and soon gatekeepers will start infesting the lives of every software...

Minimal Audio
Thought I would take a bit to share my absolute favorite minimal audio setup…
What you are looking at here is my iPod 5G connected through the auxiliary jack of my Tivoli PAL radio. This little setup has some great advantages and awesome sound. Obviously, the iPod could be substituted with any other player here. The real story is the PAL.
It is actually kind of magic how Tivoli has managed to...

The Document Escalation Path
It was not until recently that I realized something about my workflow. Please forgive me if this is all “Big Duh!” to you. I have a document escalation path. – a definitive point of creation for the most basic needs and a progression of steps for when the item outgrows those needs. My flow generally goes something like this (links to other posts here where appropriate):
TextEdit – All writing...
